Programming 2026

Woodledge is excited to offer youth and adult programming through the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. Please be aware that Spring and Fall programming is open to members and members of the public.

Swim Lessons:

We offer swim lessons beginning at age 2/3. Beginning with the 2025 season, Woodledge will shift its swim lesson approach to technique and safety skills centered. This ensures a more comprehensive understanding of swimming. Lessons are leveled A-F; F being those formerly in level 6.

  • Level A: The objectives of Level A are to learn basic personal water safety information and skills, to help participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. In Level A, you teach elementary water skills. At this level, participants start developing good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water.
  • Level B: The objective of Level B is to give participants success with fundamental skills. Participants learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Participants further develop simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back that lay the foundation for future strokes.
  • Level C: The objective of Level C is to build on previously learned skills by providing additional guided practice. You teach participants the survival float, swim the front crawl, and elementary back stroke. You introduce the scissors kick and dolphin kick. Participants should also learn the rules for headfirst entries and begin to enter the water headfirst from a seated position at poolside.
  • Level D: The objectives of Level D are to develop participants’ confidence in the strokes learned thus far and to improve other aquatic skills. In level D, participants improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke) for greater distances. Participants add the arms to the scissor kick for sidestroke. Participants also start to learn the back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly.
  • Level E: The objectives of Level E are coordination and refinement of strokes. Participants refine their performance of all strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke) and increase their distances. Stroke turns are also introduced.
  • Level F: The objectives of Level F are to refine strokes so participants swim them with more ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness.

Swim Team:

We offer three distinct swim team groups based on age and ability. Seniors are generally 12 and over and Juniors are generally 11 and under.  Our Third group, Minnows, is for new swimmers or those who are 4 and up.
